One of the first moves by Relativity’s new Chief Marketing Officer is raising eyebrows. Angela Courtin, who joined Relativity in July in the newly created post, just hired her life partner Lisa Eisenpresser for a job consulting for the digital department that was overseen by Roger Mincheff. He had been basically pushed out by Courtin’s hiring, which put his division under her purview. Eisenpressser’s hiring has raised charges of nepotism; in this case, Courtin is enriching her own household by hiring Eisenpresser. Mincheff’s last day was today.

“Relativity does not have policy against hiring family members or friends, but those hires are subject to a rigorous internal approval process,” said a spokesman for Relativity. Eisenpresser starts October 1 and will report to her partner.

Courtin stepped in to oversee marketing, digital and ad efforts in film, TV and sports. In her post, she also is responsible for branding across all divisions of the company. She reports directly to Relativity CEO Ryan Kavanaugh and President Tucker Tooley.

Before joining Relativity, Courtin and her life partner Eisenpresser both worked at Aegis Media and its global content agency, the Story Lab. Courtin was Chief Content Officer for Aegis Media and President, and together she and Eisenpresser founded the Story Lab in 2013.
