Awards show specialist Dick Clark Prods. is becoming a partner in another major TV special franchise. The company has teamed with the Miss America Organization on  94-year-old Miss America Competition. Their collaboration will start with next year’s Miss America pageant. This year’s edition airs live this coming Sunday on ABC. DCP will land its expertise in creative, marketing, sponsorship, licensing, ticketing and distribution elements of the show as well as leveraging the historic brand in new business ventures and programming.  The Miss America Competition will continue to be produced by Tony Eaton and Tall Dick Clark Productions LogoPony Prods. “dick clark productions is the leader in live event television and we look forward to growing the show’s legacy and elevating the Miss America Competition for current and new generations of television viewers,” said Sam Haskell, Chairman and CEO, Miss America Organization. The most recent Miss America special drew a respectable 9 million viewers and a 2.0 in the adult 18-49 demographic. DCP did a similar agreement with Hollywood Film Awards founder Carlos de Abreu last year, and has since turned the never-before-televised ceremony into an awards franchise for CBS. DCP now is behind five of the Top 10 live specials on TV, the Golden Globes, AMAs, ACMs, the Billboard Music Awards and Miss America.

“Since its first television broadcast in 1954, the Miss America competition has continually captivated the country as a true television event for 60 years,” said DCP president Mike Mahan. “We plan to help build on the tremendous show legacy by marrying our live event expertise with Miss America’s mission brand goals and competition creative, while leveraging new promotional, sponsorship and distribution opportunities to take the show to even greater heights.”

For the past several years, DCP has been mounting Donald Trump’s Miss USA/Miss Universe specials as a hired outside producer. DCP is contracted to do the 2015 Miss Universe Pageant, after which the company is expected to work exclusively on the Miss America pageant. The Miss America Organization is the leading provider of college scholarships for women in America. Last year, it made $45 million available for scholarship assistance.
