Jimmy Kimmel Live clocked its most watched third quarter ever — 2.34 million viewers — and its strongest third quarter in eight years in the demo (727,000) which helped the ABC late-night franchise deliver its most watched complete TV season ever (2.586 million viewers), besting prior year’s high by 7%. In the demo, Kimmel delivered a 10-year high.

That said, NBC’s Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, which debuted early in the 2013-14 TV season,  outscored the combined demo ratings of JKL and CBS’s Late Show with David Letterman combined for the third quarter.  Fallon delivered the best Tonight Show third quarter in six years in the demo, and in overall audience (1.18 demo rating, 3.927 million viewers). Fallon and NBC’s Late Night host Seth Meyers outstripped their ABC and CBS time period competition in every key ratings measure: adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49, and 25-54, plus total viewers.

Meyers’ stats fell short of Fallon’s Late Night third-quarter numbers of last year, but, NBC notes, finished within .07 of Kimmel in the earlier timeslot, and Meyers trounced his CBS timeslot competitor Craig Ferguson for the quarter.
