EXCLUSIVE: Jeff Berg’s Resolution has hired new agent Brehan Fitzgerald from the ranks of 20th Century Fox’s casting division. The former VP of Fox feature casting is starting to make calls around town as she transitions into her new gig repping talent at the agency, effective today.

Why make the leap from casting exec to talent agent? “Working with artists is very rewarding, but when you work in casting you only get to do it for short period of time,” she told me. “Joining the representation side is much more exciting because when you work with an artist, it’s for the long term.” Fitzgerald had a hand in casting some of the studio’s biggest franchises during her 12 year run at Fox, where she rose to VP in 2012. She helped land Michael B. Jordan and Dane DeHaan in Josh Trank’s low budget sci-fier Chronicle, Toby Kebbel in Fox Searchlight’s The East, and Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult, Caleb Landry Jones, and Jennifer Lawrence in X-Men: First Class.

As their stars rose, many of those actors have stayed in the Fox family. Jordan stars in Fox’s upcoming Fantastic Four reboot for director Trank. Also in the film is Kebbel, who drew acclaim for playing Koba in Fox’s summer sequel Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes. After X-Men, McAvoy was cast in Fox’s Trance and is starring in the studio’s upcoming 2015 pic Frankenstein, while Lawrence is inked for David O. Russell’s Joy for Fox 2000 and will reprise her mutant role in 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse.

“It’s important to start relationships with young artists so they want to work with you again,” said Fitzgerald. “I hope that as an agent I break new ground signing the next round of rising talent.” Fitzgerald is looking to build her client roster with the next big things by tapping into her network of talent sources, web, and TV. She’ll be working out of Resolution’s LA outpost. “I’m hoping to find the next group of Michael B. Jordans and Dane DeHaans,” she said.
