EXCLUSIVE: Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Kate Bosworth, Dave Bautista, and Gina Carano are joining the Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films production of Bus 657, the ensemble heist pic that Robert De Niro already has boarded. This is the latest pic that is part of E/F/O’s overall deal with Grindhouse/Lionsgate, which will distribute the $15M-budgeted Bus 657 along with Hannibal Classics. Stephen Sepher and Max Adams wrote the action thriller that Scott Mann (The Tournament) will direct. Principal photography is set to begin October 13 in Mobile, AL.
The pic, formerly titled Bus 757, centers on a father (Morgan) without the means to pay for his daughter’s medical treatment. As a last resort, he partners with a greedy co-worker (Bautista) to rob a casino and the two hijack a bus full of hostages and things go awry. De Niro will play Frank “The Pope”, owner of the casino, and Bosworth plays his estranged daughter. Carano is a policewoman in pursuit of the hijacked bus.
Randall Emmett, George Furla, Sepher and Alexander Tabrizi are producing, and Barry Brooker and Stan Wertlieb executive produce along with Daniel Grodnik, Richard Rionda Del Castro, Patricia Eberle, and Beth Holden-Garland.
This adds to an expanding slate for E/F/O that includes the Martin Scorsese-directed Silence, the M. Night Shyamalan-directed Labor Of Love with Bruce Willis, and the Tupac Shakur biopic that John Singleton is directing with Open Road releasing it. The company recently released The Prince and is next up with Vice; both star Willis and are part of the Grindstone-Lionsgate deal.
Morgan is repped by UTA and Bosworth by CAA. Bautista and Carano are repped by Gersh.
