UPDATED 4:45 PM: Just hours after the male lead was announced, Teresa Palmer has been tapped as female lead Gabby Holland in Lionsgate’s The Choice. Her recent credits include The Ever After, Parts Per Billion and Love And Honor, and Palmer next appears in Cut Bank and Kill Me Three Times. Palmer is repped by WME, Management 360, Shanahan and Sloane Offer.

PREVIOUSLY 2:45 PM: The man who played the 16th president in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is shifting genres a bit. Benjamin Walker has landed the male lead in The Choice, Lionsgate’s adaptation of the Nicholas Sparks novel. He’ll play The ChoiceTravis Parker, who meets neighbor Gabby Holland in a small coastal town. The story spans a decade of their love affair, which is ultimately tested by life’s most defining events. Ross Katz directs from a screenplay by Bryan Sipe.

It’s the first independent feature from Nicholas Sparks Productions, whose Sparks and Theresa Park are partnering with Peter Safran to produce and finance the pic. Jason Constantine and Eda Kowan are overseeing for Lionsgate.
