EXCLUSIVE: After helping Chelsea Handler become a household name with her talk show, E! is looking to do the same with another young female comedian who has a big Web/social media presence, Grace Helbig. Helbig will star in a hybrid comedy/talk show pilot for the cable network, produced by Sony-owned Embassy Row (Talking Dead). The project will highlight Helbig’s skills as a pop culture anthropologist. The Grace Helbig Project (working title) is not targeted for a specific time period though E! has a late-night talk show opening with the pending departure of Chelsea Lately.
Helbig is probably best known for her it’sGrace YouTube channel, which has more than 1.8 million subscribers (watch her latest video below.) She previously created the My Damn Channel web series DailyGrace and was a correspondent on G4 network’s Attack Of The Show! On E!, she appeared alongside Ross Mathews and Ali Fedotowsky on the Countdown To The Red Carpet: The 2014 Academy Awards special.
Helbig, who has been featured on a number of lists for top young comedy and digital talent, has won a Webby and a Streamy. She recently starred in and executive produced the film Camp Takota, which made iTunes Top 10 list. Her book, Grace’s Guide: The Art Of Pretending To Be AGrown-up, comes out October 21. She is with Ken Treusch at Bleecker Street, WME and Hansen, Jacobson.
