NBC continues to renew its summer freshman original series. Following orders to drama The Night Shift and comedy Undateable, the network has renewed comedy Welcome to Sweden for a 10-episode second season. Unlike The Night Shift and Undateable, which were developed at NBC, Welcome to Sweden is in import. It is originally produced for Sweden’s TV4, which already renewed it for a second season.
Created by Greg Poehler based on his life, the fish-out-of-water Welcome to Sweden is executive produced by his sister, Amy Poehler. Entertainment One, TV4, FLX and Syskon are producing. Generally well received by critics, Welcome to Sweden has been an OK (by summer standards) ratings performer. It premiered with a 0.9 in adults 18-49 and 3.5 million viewers and has averaged a 0.8 rating in adults 18-49 and 2.9 million viewers overall in Live+same day. Like Amy Poehler’s Parks & Recreation, Welcome to Sweden is generating an upscale audience, indexing at 105 among adults 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes (most current).
