What if most of America is wiped out in a nuclear attack? Bob Cooper's Landscape Entertainment Television and Entertainment One Television are exploring that nightmarish scenario in an event series project based on the upcoming nonfiction book Raven Rock: The Inside Story Of The U.S. Government’s Secret Plan To Save Itself – While the Rest Of Us Die by Garrett Graff. Landscape and eOne, where Cooper's company has a first-look deal, have optioned rights to the book, which will be published next year by Little Brown. It explores the history of our government’s secret efforts to ensure survival if most of America or its leaders are killed in a nuclear attack on the United States. There is what is known as “CoG” or “Continuity of Government”: top secret, highly detailed plans on how to save the highest ranks, start over and save America -- or, at the very least, the idea of America. Raven Rock (picture) is a massive, classified, underground military installation in Pennsylvania (one of several secret military bunkers), which would serve as the central command post for the U.S. government in the wake of a nuclear attack.
Graff, editor of The Washingtonian magazine, previously wrote the 2011 best-seller The Threat Matrix: The FBI At War In The Age Of Global Terror. Cooper and Tyler Mitchell will executive produce the potential series with Tom Patricia. Landscape also has supernatural limited series Wasteland in the works at NBC.
