Football is back, and with that NBC returned to the top of the Sunday ratings. The first NFL preseason game, the Hall of Fame face-off between the New York Giants and Buffalo Bills, drew a 5.8 rating in the metered-market households. That was down 13% from the comparable game last year, which featured the Dallas Cowboys and the Miami Dolphins.
NBC still is poised to comfortably win the night in adults 18-49 and total viewers. Its lineup started with the WrestleMania 30 special at 7 PM. Its fast national 1.2 18-49 rating is up 100% from last year’s special, though that number is inflated by live football coverage on the West Coast and will be adjusted down in the finals. After posting declines last Sunday, ABC’s reality duo of Wipeout (0.9) and Rising Star (0.9) held steady against the increased competition from football; Wipeout was up a tenth while Rising Star was even from last week.
CBS’ fast nationals are skewed because of a seven-minute overrun from the Bridgestone golf tournament. Big Brother (1.9) is currently running down 14% from last week from 8-9 PM but will likely go up in the finals. Unforgettable (1.0) and Reckless (0.6) are running even with last Sunday.
Fox aired all comedy repeats.
