It was an off night for broadcast networks’ longest-running summer reality franchises. NBC’s America’s Got Talent (1.8 in adults 18-49) was down 10% from last week. The talent competition show has not been getting a ratings bump in the finals lately. If the pattern holds, this would be a series low for AGT in Live+same day. Big Brother (2.0) was down a tenth from its fast national last week, and Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance (1.0) also was off by a tenth.
Scripted summer originals held steady albeit at levels largely lower than their unscripted counterparts. CBS’ Extant (1.0) led the 10 PM pack, posting the same rating as in the past two Wednesdays. ABC’s Motive (0.7) was also flat. NBC’s Taxi: Brooklyn (0.9) was even with its final last week but down a tenth from the fast national. The imported series tends to get adjusted down because of a minute of an AGT overrun, so it may slip to a 0.8 in the finals. The CW’s Penn & Teller (0.5) was solid, matching its premiere rating for a second straight week. NBC and CBS finished tied with Univision for No.1 in 18-49 (1.3), with CBS winning outright among total viewers.
