EXCLUSIVE: After opening alien family pic Earth To Echo last month, Relativity Media is embarking on a new intergalactic mission with Out Of This World. Unlike acquisition title Echo, which originated at Disney, Relativity’s aboard this one early. The studio will produce and distribute the sci-fi adventure about a youngster named Gardner, who’s raised in secret by scientists on a Mars colony after the death of his astronaut mother. Sixteen years later, he goes from the Red Planet to Earth and hits the road traveling across America with a young woman, in search of the father he never knew. Out Of This World is written by Rock Of Ages and Wall Street 2 scribe Allan Loeb. Peter Chelsom (Serendipity, Shall We Dance?) is in negotiations to direct after helming and co-writing his most recent project for Relativity, the September 19 comedy-drama Hector And The Search For Happiness.
Out Of This World will be produced by Ryan Kavanaugh and Southpaw Entertainment’s Richard B. Lewis. Exec producers are Tucker Tooley, Allan Loeb, Steven Pearl and Sasha Harrari. Robbie Brenner is overseeing for Relativity, with Gabrielle Jerou overseeing on behalf of Southpaw Entertainment. Casting will be handled by Cathy Sandrich and Amanda Mackey. Along with Hector And The Search For Happiness, Relativity next releases The November Man (August 27), The Best of Me (October 17), and Beyond The Lights (November 14). Loeb is a client of CAA and Anonymous Content, Chelsom is repped by UTA, and Lewis is repped by CAA.
