Shine International has sold the two-part miniseries INXS: Never Tear Us Apart to premium cable channel Showtime in the U.S. The two-hour project from Shine Australia tells the uncensored story of the multiplatinum band’s rise to international stardom through the death of lead singer Michael Hutchence in 1997. Band members and insiders collaborated with the producers on the show, which aired Down Under in February and is the country’s top-rated Australian drama of 2014.
AMC Launching Sundance Channel Global in Six Latin American Territories
AMC Networks International is expanding Sundance Channel Global across Central America with launches on Cable Onda, the biggest pay-TV platform in Panama, on Tigo in El Salvador, Costa Rica, Honduras, Paraguay and Guatemala. Additional subscription agreements were also reached with Claro, the largest pay-TV platform in Columbia and the Dominican Republic where the network will be offered as a 24-hour HD linear service. Sundance Channel debuted in South America last year in Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, Uruguay and Venezuela.
‘Kajaki’ Lensing in Jordan For Six Weeks
Production is underway for Kajaki, the feature from Oscar-winning producer Gareth Ellis-Unwin (The King’s Speech) which recounts how the British Army’s 3rd Battalion, The Parachute Regiment, were trapped in a minefield near the Kajaki Dam in Afghanistan in 2006. Closely based on first accounts, the film is directed by Paul Katis and written by Tom Williams. Katis is also producing with Andrew de Lotbiniere as well as EPs Alexa Jago, Alec Mackenzie and Ellis-Unwin. Kajaki is being financed by Lipsync and Indiegogo crowdfunding. Metro International is handling foreign sales. The cast is comprised of David Elliot as the film’s protagonist Corporal Mark Wright, with Mark Stanley, Scott Kyle, Benjamin O’Mahony, Bryan Parry, Liam Ainsworth, Andy Gibbins, John Doughty, Paul Luebke, Thomas Davison, Grant Kilburn, Robert Mitchell, Jon Paul Bell, Malachi Kirby and Ali Cook as other members of 3 Para.
