Former Discovery Channel EVP Andrew Jackson has joined Grant Mansfield’s Plimsoll Productions as EVP International Production, the company said today. In his new role, Jackson will be responsible for developing a U.S. expansion strategy for Plimsoll and will work closely with Chief Executive Grant Mansfield, to whom he will report, and Plimsoll’s newly appointed agents WME.

“Andrew is a leader in factual/non-fiction documentary filmmaking, has more than two decades experience of working in the US market and is the perfect executive to help Plimsoll expand Stateside — he is a respected producer, an inspiring storyteller and has a successful track record of innovative programming,” said Mansfield. “Together with our new partners at WME we are now perfectly positioned to develop and produce directly for American broadcast and cable networks.”

Jackson previously served as EVP Production and Development of Landmark Series and Specials at Discovery Channel, where he oversaw such projects as North America, Monster Squid – The Giant Is Real, Africa, Curiosity, Winged Planet and the 2013 Shark Week. Prior to Discovery, he served as the Head of Natural History Unit at the BBC.

Plimsoll launched in 2013 with a focus on Reality and Wildlife programming for UK and American broadcasters. Most recently, ITV announced the commission of the Plimsoll produced special Prom Crazy: Frocks And Ferraris.
