Primetime Emmys Host Seth Meyers: 'Avoid A Train Wreck'

That’s what the SNL vet and Late Night host replied this morning when Al Roker asked him to name his biggest goal for tonight’s NBC-broadcast 66th Primetime Emmycast. The filmed interview was shown during the third half-hour segment of NBC’s Today show. First came repeated viewings of Nicki Minaj’s “wardrobe malfunction” during Sunday night’s MTV Video Music Awards telecast. Ditto for revisits to Beyonce, Jay Z and Blue Ivy showing the love. Finally, it was Meyers’ turn.

Screen Shot 2014-08-25 at 9.04.05 AM“These opportunities don’t come around that often,” he said, understating. “I think if you can avoid a train wreck everyone will be happy…I don’t sing and I don’t dance. No twerking,” he promised, adding that he’d “love to see Jon Hamm win an Emmy.”

  1. 1. I have a theory about Hamm. He’s obviously a like-able funny guy, a lot of fun, and has been plying this in media, talk shows, for a long time now. But is this obviously very natural side of the guy undercutting the perception of the character of Don Draper and in turn undermining his LONG overdue Emmy win?

    2. No problem here. Seth Meyers is going to knock it out of the park.

  2. Why does anyone expect awards shows to be some kind of spectacular event? Never made sense to me why people complain about award shows.
