Below is the latest trailer for Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy, which opens July 31 internationally before debuting stateside the next day. This new action-packed extended peek dropped after Disney/Marvel unloaded 17 minutes of IMAX footage last night to drum up buzz on the superhero team-up, including a looong galactic prison break scene and sizzle reels that drew comparisons to Star Wars from fans and bloggers.

I’ve heard the James Gunn-directed pic is almost done with post with less than a month left to go before release. Given its lesser known comic book characters and the tepid summer on the box office charts so far, Marvel needs to drum up all the excitement it can. Enter the mainstream, older-skewing Guardians soundtrack for dads: Is this how Marvel’s gonna hook the baby boomer set?

The new trailer features yet another selection from the film’s ’70s AM rock soundtrack – The Runaways’ 1976 punk anthem “Cherry Bomb,” used here to highlight Chris Pratt’s Han Solo heroism opposite Zoe Saldana as the green-skinned Gamora, Dave Bautista as space warrior Drax the Destroyer, a sassy talking raccoon voiced by Bradley Cooper, and a stoic tree voiced by Vin Diesel.
