Australian filmmaker Aaron Wilson has been set to direct Mercy Road, the Cheyenne Enterprises production that will be co-financed by DragonSlate Media. Headed by Leon Tan and based in Malaysia, DragonSlate Media will also co-produce in its first Hollywood venture. The film will shoot in the U.S. and Malaysia next year. Tan’s Kuala Lumpur-based Tripod Entertainment is expected to provide production, VFX and post services to Mercy Road.

Written by Roy Freirich, Mercy Road is a character-driven action thriller inspired by real events. A small town sheriff loses his daughter to cancer, then discovers she was given counterfeit medication. Freirich will produce with Cheyenne’s Arnold Rifkin. Also producing is Jay Judah, who brought the project to Cheyenne. Wilson’s feature debut Canopy just played in competition at the Jerusalem Film Festival. That film’s set during the Japanese invasion of Singapore in WWII, and follows an Aussie fighter pilot shot down in combat and pursued by the enemy.

Wilson is repped by Paradigm, Echo Lake, and RGM, Cheyenne by Matt Saver, Freirich by Ron Levin of Levin Law Corp. Tan heads both DragonSlate Media and Tripod Entertainment out of Kuala Lumpur with offices in Singapore and Los Angeles, with the support of Malaysia’s Multimedia Development Corporation.
