The NBA Finals series between the San Antonio Spurs and Miami Heat finally took a different turn after mirroring the pattern of last year’s face-off for the first three games, with the Spurs taking the opening matchup, Miami evening things out and the Spurs pulling ahead in Game 3. Instead of the Heat tying the series at two games apiece as they did last year, the San Antonio team widened its lead to 3-1 last night with a decisive 107-86 victory. The game pulled in a 10.6 overnight rating for ABC, down 12% from last year’s 12 rating for Game 4. It was up slightly from the third game this year, which drew a 10.3 on Tuesday. Jimmy Kimmel Live: Game Night and NBA Countdown matched their Tuesday preliminary numbers. ABC won the night in adults 18-49 and total viewers by a wide margin.
NBC’s lineup slipped a notch against the NBA Finals. At 8 PM the aptly titled against the basketball finals Hollywood Game Night (1.0) was down a tenth (9%). The back-to-back episodes of Undateable from 8-9 PM drew a 1.0 and 0.9 in 18-49, respectively, vs 1.0 and 1.0 last week. The 0.9 is a low for the burn-off comedy, which so far has done respectable business for the way it was scheduled, staying above all original broadcast comedies that aired last summer and keeping clear of the lows posted by several NBC fall comedies last season, like The Michael J. Fox Show, Sean Saves the World and Welcome to the Family. It also topped Fox drama Gang Related again and in total viewers, both Undateable episodes actually grew from last week. At 10 PM, Last Comic Standing (1.2) was down 14% from last week. Fox’s Hell’s Kitchen (1.6) was down a tenth from last week, while Gang Related (0.8) was flat. CBS and the CW aired all reruns. CBS and NBC tied Univision for the night in 18-49 (1.1), a tenth behind Fox.
