Andy Garcia has been cast in Max Steel, Dolphin Films’ live-action film based on the Mattel toy line. The story centers on teenager Max McGrath (Ben Winchell) and his alien companion Steel, who combine special turbo-energy powers to become the superhero Max Steel. Garcia will play Dr. Miles Edwards, a brilliant and mysterious scientist. Ana Villafané also stars. Garcia, who earned an Oscar nom for The Godfather Part III, most recently appeared in Rob The Mob and has a voice role in Rio 2. He next hits the big screen in Let’s Be Cops and Kill The Messenger.
Dejon LaQuake has joined the family adventure film Max, about a dog working with Marines in Afghanistan who returns from service after his handler is killed. The man’s devastated family adopts the dog, who ends up bonding with their troubled son (Josh Wiggins). Together they unravel the secret behind his brother’s death. Thomas Haden Church and Miles Mussenden also star. LaQuake, whose credits include TV’s Bones and is one half of the musical duo 1 Rebel Nation, will play Chuy. Production is expected to start next month in North Carolina for director Boaz Yakin. Dejon is repped by Prestige Talent Agency, DBA Talent and Skrzyniarz & Mallean
