The spring finale of ABC Family‘s Pretty Little Liars became the most tweeted telecast of 2014 and the No. 4 most tweeted series telecast in TV history, with nearly 1.5 million tweets by nearly 411,000 unique contributors, peaking at a max rate of 37,000 tweets per minute. For comparison sake, the recent season debut of AMC’s The Walking Dead logged 1.24 million tweets. Pretty Little Liars now accounts for the six most tweeted TV series telecasts on record — nine original episodes accrued more than 1 million tweets, including its summer 2013 season finale, which remains the most tweeted telecast in TV history.
Nielsen TV ratings-wise, the 8 PM spring finale was cable’s No. 1 ranked telecast in the hour with 12-34-year-old females, and, with an average overall crowd of 3.1 million viewers, just missed a season high in 2+.
