Out East Entertainment has acquired global TV rights to Dutch format Fish Tales and closed a talent holding deal with its host, European chef Bart Van Olphen. The company plans to mount US and UK versions of the show with Van Olphen. Fish Tales tackles the issue of ocean overfishing and spotlights fisheries worldwide that are practicing responsible fishing. It tells the stories of the men, women, villages and oceans who are behind the fish we eat. “We are very excited to be partnering with Bart to bring his unique insights, talent and culinary skills to a more global television audience,” said Steven Marrs, OEE’s President & Managing Partner.
Van Olphen is a Paris-trained chef who started his career in the Michelin 3-starred Lucas Carton restaurant. He later sequed from kitchen prep to food procurement and opened Europe’s first sustainable fishmongery in Amsterdam in 2002. Since, then he’s personally traveled to countless fisheries worldwide, committed to keeping the ocean’s survival a priority. In addition to maintaining the Fish Tales brand, Van Olphen currently hosts online cooking show Fish Tales on Instagram. Fish Tales is produced by Out East Entertainment. Steven Marrs, Courtney Hazlett and Bart Van Olphen are executive producing.
