Jane Latman retains her responsibilities as SVP Development at Investigation Discovery. In her new post, Latman will report to Henry Schleiff, who recently was named group president of ID, Destination America, American Heroes Channel, and Discovery Fit & Health. She will continue to work for Kevin Bennett, GM ID and American Heroes Channel as ID’s chief development exec.
Late last month, in a re-alignment of its U.S. network portfolio, Discovery Communications named Eileen O’Neill to be Group President of the Discovery Channel and gave her oversight of Science Channel and Velocity — two networks seen to have tremendous growth opportunity. TLC, which O’Neill is credited with turning around, was given to the care of Marjorie Kaplan, who became Group President of TLC and Animal Planet, while Schleiff added O’Neill’s Discovery Fit & Health network to his watch, as Group President of that network and Investigation Discovery, Destination America, and American Heroes Channel.
Latman is an 11-year veteran of Discovery Communications, where she has held key leadership roles at ID, Military Channel and Discovery Times Channel, developing such series as A Crime To Remember, Web Of Lies, Who The (Bleep) Did I Marry?, Redrum, Deadly Affairs With Susan Lucci, Homicide Hunter: Lt. Joe Kenda, Stalked: Someone’s Watching, Deadline: Crime With Tamron Hall and On The Case With Paula Zahn. Prior to joining Discovery Communications, Latman was a freelance producer, director and writer for projects including the series Nurses for Discovery Health Channel and Understanding: Obesity for The Learning Channel.
“Jane’s passion for ID has helped it grow from the No. 50 network for women to the No. 3 network, today, and I look forward to working with her to develop Discovery Fit & Health into a growth engine for Discovery Communications,” Schleiff said in today’s announcement.
