Adam Hicks (Lemonade Mouth) has been cast in History’s miniseries Texas Rising (working title) from A+E Studios and ITV Studios America. Leslie Greif (Hatfields & McCoys) is exec producing the project which will detail the Texas Revolution against Mexico and the rise of the legendary Texas Rangers. Roland Joffé will direct. Hicks, repped by Paradigm, Gilbertson Entertainment, and Myman Abel Fineman Fox Greenspan Lights, will play Turett Fincham, the youngest Ranger who faces his first skirmish with a group of murdering Indians. Hicks will next be seen in the upcoming feature Boy Next Door.
Alfred Molina (The Da Vinci Code, Spider Man 2) has joined the cast of the upcoming action drama series Matador, for Robert Rodriguez‘s El Rey Network, created by Bob Orci and Alex Kurtzman. Matador chronicles the unlikely rise of Antonio “Matador” Bravo (Luna), a popular soccer star who in reality uses his sports career for a cover as a skilled covert operative executing missions for a little known branch of the CIA. The character is described as a Latino take on James Bond. Molina will play Andres Galan, owner of the ascendant LA Riot franchise. Molina recently wrapped the feature Love Is Strange slated for release later this year and appears in HBO’s The Normal Heart.
