Veteran unscripted executive and producer Eugene Young has joined Ryan Seacrest Prods. as president. He succeeds longtime CEO Adam Sher, who stepped down in November. Young starts in March, reporting to RSP chairman Ryan Seacrest on creative matters and to COO/CFO Jeff Refold on business and financial matters. Recently appointed EVP Unscripted Programming Izzie Pick Ashcroft will report to Young. EVP Scripted Programming Nina Wass will work closely with Young, and continue to report to Seacrest. “Eugene’s an extremely talented and accomplished television executive, as well as an experienced producer, with a keen understanding of the business — not just where it’s been, or even where we are, but most important, where it’s all going,” said Seacrest. Young called the appointment “the biggest opportunity of my career.”
For the past eight months, Young served as co-managing director of Hell’s Kitchen producer A. Smith & Co. Before that, he and Jay Bienstock ran Bienstock Young Media for three years. He also served as Chief Creative Officer at Fremantle North America for four years and as SVP Creative Director, Endemol USA. He has worked on such series as American Idol, America’s Got Talent, The Price Is Right, Let’s Make A Deal, Deal Or No Deal, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and Fear Factor. RSP produces the Keeping Up With The Kardashians franchise, Shahs Of Sunset as well as scripted series Mixology on ABC and newly ordered Shades Of Blue starring Jennifer Lopez on NBC.
