Razzie Nominations: 'Grown Ups 2', 'After Earth', Tyler Perry, Sylvester Stallone

One day ahead of the Academy Awards nominations, the anti-Oscar Razzies have unveiled their picks for the cinematic worst of 2013. Perennial punching bags Adam Sandler and Tyler Perry are called out for Grown Ups 2, the most-nominated film, and A Madea Christmas, respectively. Also, Sylvester Stallone nabbed a 31st nom for a trio of films that came out last year. Here’s the full Razzie rundown:

razzie_awardOne year shy of their 35th anniversary, Tinsel Town’s Tackiest Trophy Derby continues to call on Hollywood’s A-Listers to “Own Their Bad.” This year’s 34th Annual RAZZIE® nominees include some of the biggest names in the movie business, who happened to star in some of the biggest box office bombs of 2013. For the first time in their history, the RAZZIES® are also working with their worldwide fan-base of PO’d motion picture-goers, and the cutting edge crowd-funding website Indiegogo to put on a high-end show this year and pave the way for the first ever RAZZIE® Awards Broadcast in 2015.

Garnering their first ever RAZZIE® nods are some of the silver screen’s most recognizable luminaries, including past Oscar® nominees Johnny Depp and Naomi Watts as well as up-and-comers making crummy choices like Jaden Smith and Selena Gomez. The list also includes several “Repeat Offenders,” returning for more pie-in-the-face/light-hearted joshing from the only folks whose statuette no one wants to win. Going for a possible 3rd Worst Actor “win” in a row, Adam Sandler is back, alongside such RAZZIE® stalwarts (and past “winners”) as Ashton Kutcher, Lindsay Lohan, Taylor Lautner, Tyler Perry and The Awl Time RAZZIE® Cham-Peeen Sylvester Stallone, snagging a staggering 31st nomination for three 2013 dogs, BULLET TO THE HEAD, ESCAPE PLAN and GRUDGE MATCH.

Among this year’s five Worst Picture contenders are a real life father and son (Will and Jaden Smith) in a sci-fi epic set on “Planet Nepotism,” AFTER EARTH; Sandler’s latest summer-vacation-masquerading-as-a-movie, GROWN UPS #2; A shockingly star-studded cast in a major dud that came off as an X-rated rip-off of Love American Style, MOVIE 43: Tyler Perry’s 37th Man-in-a-Dress Drag-Fest A MADEA CHRISTMAS: and The Year’s Biggest B.O. Bust, Dizz-Knee’s flat-footed remake of THE LONE RANGER. A complete list of all nominees is included below.

For 8 of this year’s 9 RAZZIE® categories, contenders were determined by seeking online votes from some 750 G.R.A.F. Members in 47 U.S. states and 13 foreign countries. Nominations for the 9th category, Worst Screen Combo, were determined by votes from nearly 62,000 users at the popular movie review website Rotten Tomatoes.com. “Winners” in all categories will be announced on the now traditional date of “Oscar Eve,” Saturday, March 1.

  1. The Razzies definitely have their favorites to make fun of every year. If Tyler Perry has a good sense of humor, he’d show up as Madea for the ceremony.

  2. Adam Sandler has done two decent things in his career, The Wedding Singer and the Hanukkah Song. Everything else he’s done has been juvenile, 100% grade-A crap. I hear he’s a good guy in real life though, so there is that, at least.

      1. an unseen mostly misunderstood movie from fans of judd apatow/adam sander…this is what you;re sticking up for?
You understand if it was misunderstood it’s not like you were the intended 25% and were in with the director and studio, rather these commercial oriented people really fucked up somewhere along the way and weren’t able to connect with their intended audience. they failed to reach who they were trying to reach, not the other way around.

  3. It is so much more difficult to select a winner from these Razzie nominees than to choose Oscar winners.

The competition for the Razzie is a pressure cooker of decision making.

  4. Congrats to Lindsay Lohan. You are up for the same awards as Johnny Depp :)

I miss those times when people and actors actually cared about Razzies and it was very embarrassing to be nominated. Now nobody cares at all. For years they were nominating those parody movies that no one saw in every category and Adam Sandler? Stallone, Twilight people. And people stopped caring. They should not nominate people like that Madea guy, Sandler or Stallone or Kardashian. Everybody knows they are bad actors and no one takes them seriously. They should nominate serious movie actors, that did not intend to make bad movie but they did. People like Depp, Kutcher, Watts, Will Smith, Selena Gomez. That’s where they were right this year. That’s when it is embarrassing for actors.

But unfortunately they were nominating such F lists from some parodies for the past few years that no one takes seriously Razzies anymore.

      1. A Good Day to Die Hard aka Die Hard 5 was released in 2013 and was on the Razzie Short list to be nominated THIS YEAR, just didn’t make the final cut. Although it made many Worst 10 of 2013 lists.

  5. Where is Hangover III on the worst picture list? It may have been one of the worst movies I’ve ever been subjected to. Far worse than the Lone Ranger (at least it had some interesting action scenes).

      1. No no no. Grudge Match was funny. Hangover III stupid. Runner Runner was bad. I mean off the charts bad. And because it had some hot actors they chose to pick on Stallone. But come on. Did anyone see this trash?

    1. Agreed. One of the hardest working men in show business continually gets shat upon…he continues to be inspirational, and he’s pulled off more comebacks then almost anyone else. Plus…who else looks that good at 67?

  6. Die hard for a paycheck WAS ROBBED !!
Good day to die hard & Kick Ass 2 are EASILY tied as my top worst films of last year. I was so pissed off & angry at GDTDH that I got a splitting migraine headache that took 6 hours to pass.

  7. Quit picking on sly !!! He’s like their go to actor because they run out of creativity. How about Bruce Willis in die hard 5 ? He slept through the entire movie !!! HE’S GREEDY AND LAZY !!

  8. They’re starting to run on auto-pilot now. Sure, Sandler deserves to be there every year, but movies like LONE RANGER and BULLET IN THE HEAD are too well-made for this “honor.” They’re just spraying invective on films they’ve likely not seen simply because they star actors they consistently dislike (Stallone, Depp).

  9. Where’s Arnold for that POS The Last Stand? If he’s back in the game, he should get that recognition.

  10. THIS IS THE END should be on here. I remain flummoxed that it did any business, it was Seth Rogen et al sitting around stoned writing masturbatory nonsense. How many dick/rape/cum jokes does one movie need? And why did so many people think it was great comedy? Are lobotomies back in vogue and nobody told me?

  11. Tyler Perry is A wonderful Actor,Screen writer, And Producer, He is Genuine with his on Screen Acting natural,he considers his fans first and foremost when writing A script, he also Caters to A wide range of audience. He also writes about real life situations not most people do so I give Him A A+.

  12. i loved movie 43 must be my weird sense of humour

do people forget sly won an oscar for rocky?

  13. Depp definitely deserves to be nominated! The Lone Ranger was an enjoyable movie except for him and his appaling acting
