Film Editors Unveil ACE Eddie Award Nominations

12 Years A Slave, American Hustle and Breaking Bad are among the nominees in the drama, comedy/musical and one-hour commercial TV categories for the 64th ACE Eddie Awards. The American Cinema Editors revealed their nominees today. Here’s the full list of finalists, with the winners to be revealed in a ceremony February 7 at the Beverly Hilton:

  1. Very surprised not to see Rush nominated. Gravity, 12 Years, and Her are, in my opinion, superior films, but purely in terms of editing, I think Rush belongs in the top 3 at least. With a project like Gravity, it’s hard to know how much of the editorial was planned out even in pre-production. But you can clearly tell with films like Rush and Capt. Phillips that they were formed in the editing room. I was particularly impressed with the energy and dynamism of Rush’s edit.
