Peek At Emmy Ceremony: Neil Patrick Harris Gets Hosting Advice, Carrie Underwood Performs

Neil Patrick Harris has hosted the Emmys before but that was four years ago, so he may be a bit rusty. I hear Jimmy Kimmel, Jane Lynch and Jimmy Fallon, who hosted the show the last three years, as well as Conan O’Brien, who emceed in 2002 and 2006, are coming to his aid in a funny onstage bit on the show tomorrow, in which they interrupt Harris to offer him advice. In another sneak peek from today’s rehearsal for tomorrow’s 65th Primetime Emmy Awards, here is Carrie Underwood performing during the tribute to 1963 that will close the ceremony. The Emmys air at 5 PM PT on CBS.

  1. Neil needs no aid. Please, he is the best host since Johnny Carson hosted the Oscars. He is an Industry lifer, seen and done it all. He knows what to do.

  2. They couldn’t get anyone to sing at the Emmy’s?? That was the worst version of Yesterday that I have ever heard in my life.!! And I’ve heard several version of it. It was an insult to Paul Mcartney!! I do not see the draw that seems to precede Carrie Underwood. The notes that comes out through her nose is like fingernails scratching through the blackboard! It damages one’s eardrum!! It is disappointing that of all the talent that is running around in Hollywood, you can only come up with Underwood. Pathetic!!

    1. Carrie Underwood is one of the most talented singers of our time. She is a breath of fresh air and has an absolutely gorgeous voice. How small minded of you to make such an ignorant comment.

  3. Carrie Underwood has to be one of the finest singers of this generation. It is so refreshing to hear a great voice that doesn’t resort to lip synching like so many of the young pop singers today.

  4. It is also becoming rare to find someone who sings fully clothed and not naked which seems to the new normal for pop singers.

  5. Why Carrie Underwood?…to sing a Beatles song? Don’t get me wrong…she’s got talent, but there are so many other choices that would have been better. Paul??

  6. Carrie Underwood’s voice is absolutely beautiful. She performed an amazing song with such class and beauty, and to hear that Sir Paul McCartney gave her his blessing to sing it makes it all the more beautiful.
