EXCLUSIVE: Janina Gavankar (True Blood) and Khary Payton (Young Justice) will co-star opposite Ben Rappaport in USA‘s single-camera comedy pilot Love Is Dead. Written and executive produced by Zev Borow (Chuck) based on a French short film, Love Is Dead is set at an agency that specializes in breaking up romantic relationships on behalf of those who are willing to pay to not be around when it happens. It centers on Alex (Rappaport) who, after he’s dumped by a representative of the agency, vows to find out what it is, specifically, that’s wrong with him — by taking a job at the company. Gavankar, repped by APA and Sanders Armstrong Caserta, plays Marisol Rajagopal, an icy confident and stunningly sexy professional termination associate at the Dunleavy Agency who doesn’t believe people need love to be happy and in fact thinks that they might be better off without it. Payton, repped by Gekis Ribera Management and David Shaul, will play Doubting Thomas, a former college All-American wide receiver who, after suffering a severe injury, becomes a professional relationship termination associate for the Dunleavy Agency.
British newcomer Tom Austen (JO) has joined William Moseley and Elizabeth Hurley in the hourlong E! pilot The Royals, from Lionsgate TV and Mark Schwahn. It is a contemporary drama about a fictional royal family informed by the regal opulence of the British monarchy and framed by Shakespeare’s Hamlet; a tale of men and women corrupted by power, wealth and desire. Austen, repped by Silver Lining and UK’s Ken McCreddie and Assoc., will play Jasper, the new security detail/love interst to Princess Eleanor.
