Emmy Advisory: Ballots Due Today

The deadline for Academy of Television Arts & Sciences voters returning at-home judging ballots for Telecast Awards categories to Ernst & Young is 5 PM PT today. The Creative Arts Emmy Awards are September 15 and the Primetime Emmy Awards are set for September 22 live on CBS from the Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles.

  1. I heard it on the grapevine (through a source at CBS) that the current dispute with TWC could last for months. MONTHS!

So, it will be interesting to see how a major live event, such as the PrimeTime Emmys, will affect CBS’s ratings.

  2. I have a question for the room, though I guess it really should be presented to CBS: How do they expect us here in Los Angeles to nominate them for any Emmys at all if we can’t watch their shows? A sampling of two random episodes on a screener at the end of the season will hardly be enough for folks to really care enough to vote for them.

    1. With 53 nominations, wouldn’t it be funny if CBS received not a single award when they, themselves, air the PrimeTime Emmy Awards?

    2. Isn’t that how people who don’t want to pay for HBO end up voting for shows like Game of Thrones? Voting from word of mouth or from a couple of episodes on a screener DVD? I think CBS will do just fine.

  3. That’s an excellent point. How willing will voters be to pull these shows up online or whip out their screeners? Will Moonves be punished by the voters for playing hardball?
