WASHINGTON – The Motion Picture Association of America, Inc. (MPAA) today announced that Shanna Winters has joined the organization as a Senior Vice President, Global Policy. In this newly-created position, Winters will oversee the day-to-day operation of the MPAA’s Global Policy team in addition to being responsible for a significant policy portfolio. She will report to Michael O’Leary, Senior Executive Vice President, Global Policy and External Affairs.
Prior to joining the MPAA, Winters served as a staffer for eight years in the U.S. House of Representatives. Most recently she served as Democratic Chief Counsel for the House Committee on Foreign Relations, under now-retired Congressman Howard Berman (D-CA) and then under Congressman Eliot Engel (D-NY). Prior to moving with Rep. Berman to Foreign Relations, Winters served as Staff Director for the House Judiciary Subcommittee for Courts, the Internet and Intellectual Property, where she worked for four years. A graduate of Cardozo School of Law, Winters began her professional career as an attorney in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
