MGM announced today it had tapped veteran TV exec Greg Robertson to head MGM International Television’s Asia Pacific office. In his newly created role, Senior VP Asia Pacific International TV, he will be based in Australia. Caroline Edwards will continue in her role as Vice President of Asia Pacific, MGM International Television Division, working directly with Robertson.
Robertson and the team in the Asia Pacific office will distribute new MGM theatrical releases across the region including the upcoming Carrie with Sony’s Screen Gems due October 18, The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug, the second film in the The Hobbit trilogy with New Line Cinema/Warner Bros. set for December 13, as well as 2012 billion-dollar global blockbuster, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and RoboCop with Columbia Pictures scheduled for February 7, 2014. Prior to MGM, Robertson was the Senior Vice President and Managing Director, Warner Bros. International Television, where he worked in several different positions at the company over the last 28 years. Since 2001, Robertson was responsible for all sales and distribution of Warner Bros. content across the Asia Pacific market, excluding Japan and China.
