The Haves And The Have Nots is growing on the Oprah Winfrey’s network. OWN announced today that it has ordered 16 more episodes of the freshman Tyler Perry-produced drama. That brings the first season of the show up to 32 episodes. Haves And The Have Nots’ May 28 premiere was the network’s highest-rated debut ever. The series about the rich Cryer family and their hired help garnered 1.77 million viewers (1.57 in women 25-54) at 9 PM and another 1.8 million (1.67 in women 25-54) for its second original episode at 10 PM in late May. “Naturally, it is wonderful to have the network’s first scripted series score so resoundingly”, said OWN president Sheri Salata in a statement today. “Tyler’s fans and OWN viewers have responded to this guilty pleasure in record numbers, and we are happy to give them more of a good thing”. The series’ initial 16-episode order will run to September 3, with the newly ordered episodes to air in early 2014.

Wow. Just, um… wow.
Love this show, so interesting. Can not wait for next episode.
Have the other episodes rated as well. The little in saw seemed extremely cheesy and worse than any daytime soap
Buffoonery.
Only makes sense when you consider how much programming time they need to fill with “original” and /or “new” content.
But obviously not a decision made on product quality.
Jayne, here’s the rest of the ratings.
Episode 3 – 1.47mil
Episode 4 – 1.31mil
Episode 5 – 1.32mil
It looks like its going to settle around 1.2-1.3million for now unless viewers get intrigued or bored. I know personally I don’t think I’ve ever been so uncaring about a show.
Generally it’s a like or don’t like, but to me having absolutely no interest is so much worse.
What they need to do is generate some publicity, good or bad to get people interested and talking. Get a big name in.
I only clicked on this link because I thought they must’ve changed something with this announcement. But nope, it seems they are happy to plod along.
This show is like any show I enjoy. It keeps me wanting to see more.
“we are happy to give them more of a good thing””
Uh, she does know that this is a Tyler Perry product she’s talking about, right?
I don’t know what’s more pathetic. That they’re putting out Perry’s garbage, or that they’re “happy” about it.
I think the have and the have nots is great and I love it and I think own ordering more episodes is fantastic I think all people can enjoy this show I love it and it shows black and white people on the same level of acting and the scenes are very meaty and have a lot of depth to it And all the actors are on part the show is great so to all the blacks that ate hating on tyler perry and Oprah stop this is amazing for people of color congradulate instead of hating go tp and own love u and god bless u I am a fan and I love u
I’m really enjoying The Haves and Have Nots. It is definitely one of my new Summer guilty pleasures. Very Well acted and the story line continues to leave viewers wanting more. Happy to see OWN sticking with this series and ordering additional episodes.
If you don’t like the show, poor ratings will take care of ending it.
But it really doesn’t matter that you do not like it because you cannot argue with ratings.
Take your hatred/dislike if Tyler Perry and/or Oprah and redirect it to help employ people, like they are.
Stop talking and DO something.
There was no outrage when Friday came out, or pimps up, hoes down. The hypocrisy is sickening. #haters
Would love to see more we have family night for this show like going to the moves waiting to see what’s next this show is off the hook… Great we need more shows like this; all of Tyler Perry movies and TV shows are Super waiting for more, about real life and more of Madea shows…. thanks for using OWN that’s the best!!!
Joanne
The show is pretty intriguing as the lines tend to be quick-witted and original rather than harbor trite cliches of your average soap. There are also unexpected twists here and there. I would also add that the lead actor, Tika Sumpter is surprisingly good, but a couple members of the supporting cast are pretty milktoast in their acting skills.
it’s spelled “milquetoast” not milk toast
Tika Sumpter is absolutely the best and maybe only reason to watch this show; she is sexy as all get out and well-suited to her role as “devil girl with an angel’s heart” having appeared for some time on One Life to Live, albeit in a much less provocative or challenging role. The rest of the cast is basically type-cast as philanderer husband, loyal friend, closet gay male, wronged wife with big health secret, troubled drug using son, and of course, clueless mother cancer survivor, God-fearing, maid caring for super-rich sick employer. The show has the feel of a morality play and most of the plot lines are pretty obvious and telegraphed; it seems like Tyler Perry created this soap opera based on his perception of the elements a typical soap opera must have: wealthy folks, mansions, skullduggery, philandering, a closet gay, plenty of secrets and misunderstandings, and so on. But so what? I’m enjoying Tika and amusing myself with the rest of it and I’m glad there’ll be more to see next year!
I love the show! My husband and I anticipate watching it each Tuesday! Maybe I’m partial to Tyler Perry; however, I believe I’m objective at the same time. Having said that, a few of his pieces did not impress me, but he has truly impressed me with this show and I hope the remainder of the episodes will fair just as well or better!
Like the article said, the viewership is growing.
This week, it went back to 1.8 viewers and a 0.6,
18-49 demo. That is very good for OWN. I can see
why they’re excited. Good for Tyler and Oprah.
Great show.
Helps take me away from all of the Reality Tv
A little slow at first, but is really good.
Great show good luck Tyler and Oprah,my family and i will be watching.LOVE,LOVE, LOVE THIS SHOW ONLY BREAK DOING COMMERCIAL.
Great show, I can’t wait for the next one. Tyler Perry and Oprah really know how to pick them. Tika is great as Candice. Infact, the entire cast is awesome! Love it, love it, love it.
I love this show!! Yesterday I was in Volo and saw John Schneider at the Volo Auto Museum. What a nice guy, very personable and friendly. Keep this show coming, its wonderful, all of the actors and actresses. I’m now looking for the book to read too.
I enjoy aTyler Perry,New show,Thanks Oprah ,all my neighbors watch and we can’t wait for tues. nights.
Have enjoyed thus far and wish tyler and oprah continued success.
I wonder why OWN decided to add 16 more episodes to season one instead of renewing it for a second season.
I love that show
Let me start by saying I am a huge fan of both Oprah and Tyler. I think they are both amazing entrepreneurs and decent human beings from everything I have ever heard so I was looking forward to checking out this show and although the storyline is interesting at times, the show looks like a cheap soap opera and the acting, with a few exceptions is very amateur. Overall, I think it is really bad.
I love this show.. I am so excited to see that it was picked up for a second season.. Keep up the good work Tyler Perry and Oprah…
I have not seen anything since episod 5 it’s not show in my guide for future showing whats going on. I can’t wait to see more. can someone tell me when the next episode is to air.
