Jonathan Greenberger is returning to ABC News as executive broadcast producer of This Week With George Stephanopoulos. He replaces Sandy Cannold, who was upped to exec producer/senior business editor at ABC News earlier in the year. Greenberger will report to Robin Sproul, Washington Bureau Chief and executive in charge of This Week. Greenberger, who started at ABC News as an intern in its political unit, last year served as a senior producer on the broadcast when it re-launched with Stephanopoulos’ return in the anchor chair. Greenberger left briefly to finish getting his law degree and recently received his JD from Stanford Law School. ABC News chief Ben Sherwood’s memo to staff:
I’m very pleased to announce that Jonathan Greenberger is returning to ABC News as Executive Broadcast Producer of “This Week with George Stephanopoulos.” He will report to Robin Sproul, Washington Bureau Chief and the Executive in Charge of “This Week.”
Jonathan is a familiar face to many at ABC, and especially to the staff at “This Week.” Last year he served as a senior producer on the broadcast, helping to re-launch it when George returned as its anchor during a pivotal election year.
Prior to that assignment, he held virtually every other position on the program.
Jonathan began his career at ABC News nearly a decade ago as an intern in our political unit. His passion for politics grew from a very early age as he watched history made in the battleground of Ohio every election year.
In addition to his work at ABC, Jonathan recently received his JD from Stanford Law School.
“This Week” is delivering its most-watched season in four years, growing in both total viewers and the key Adults 25-54 sales demo. You may have noticed we recently launched a new ad campaign for the broadcast, showing viewers that on Sunday mornings George is tirelessly asking the important questions that matter most to them.
George, Robin, Jonathan and the entire “This Week” team will lead a resurgent program to even greater success.
Please join me in welcoming Jonathan back to ABC News and congratulating him on this important and well-deserved promotion.
