EXCLUSIVE: Award-winning composer Carter Burwell was all set to score Marvel‘s Thor: The Dark World. It would have marked his first superhero project to date. The studio even printed his name on the first official poster last month. But Deadline now confirms that Burwell is off the project altogether in what Marvel’s camp diplomatically describes as a creative split. “They like him but it wasn’t the right project,” a studio insider said. Alan Taylor is directing the pic which is set for a November 8 bow and the studio is close to announcing Burwell’s replacement. Burwell, who would have succeeded Thor composer Patrick Doyle in the franchise, is also scoring Bill Condon’s WikiLeaks pic The Fifth Estate and Charlie Kaufman’s Anomalisa.
