Bryan Singer Tweeted today that Anna Paquin, Ellen Page and Shawn Ashmore have rejoined the team for X-Men: Days of Future Past. Last month Singer, who directed the first two chapters of the Fox franchise, also announced via Twitter that Hugh Jackman would regrow his claws for the followup to X-Men: First Class. Paquin, Page and Ashmore most recently appeared in Brett Ratner’s X-Men: The Last Stand as Rogue, Kitty Pride and Iceman, respectively. Singer’s tweet (@BryanSinger) thanked Ratner “for letting them live!” In addition to Jackman, Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen are returning as are other First Class mates James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence.

I thought Ellen Page’s career would skyrocket after Inception. Obviously it didn’t quite happen, and the she is donning spandex again for a big paycheck.
*yawn*
Hey, bros- wake me up when Matthew Vaughn comes back on board as director. Thanks.
You’re yawning BECAUSE you just watched Vaughn’s take on X-Men.
Wrong. Yawning at Jack the Career Slayer.
Nicholson has nothing to do with this.
Wow it’s setting up to be the best x-men movie,., though I am hoping for fox to return to the original x-men sequels..
Also they could do so many things with this franchise theirs hundreds of characters that they could make solo movies of to lead up to a bigger x-men collaboration…
This is fantastic news, been waiting to see these characters return since X3! Maybe we’ll find out that not everything in X3 was as it seemed, thanks to a time-travel twist?
X-prequels were okay (not great), but I prefer to see what happens “next” to the X-Men – much more exciting :-)
If a whole lot of mess from “X3” could be erased somehow, I think I could “like” the series again. Otherwise, if they don’t let this series die I will scream. Every other franchise has received well deserved reboots. But someone seems to believe that this “dead horse” can still win the race. Let. It. Go.
Filling a movie with a bloated cast does not necessarily make a better film. Concentrating on the new cast would have been a far better idea.
The go watch the animated series
Agreed Jimmy. This sounds like it has way too many characters to be interesting. First class had too many characters anyway and wasted a lot of time introducing them. It would be better if this one just continued the story First Class started.
Shaping up to be epic.
Could do without Ellen Paige, indifferent about Ashmore, but am very glad to see Anna Paquin returning. Now we just need James Marsden and Famke Jansen and we’ll be back to where we should have been. (I don’t think anyone is clamoring for Halle Berry to come back…)
I am.
as long as Halle Berry isn’t back, I’ll be happy. I’d like to see Famke Janssen back though even though her character is dead.
Bring back Nightcrawler plzkthxbye!
Bring Famke back!
And now all they have to announce is that the ‘X3: The Last Stand’ will be obliterated from the continuity and everything will be great.
Tots agree. Totally Agree!
the reason why first class worked so well was because it was young, fresh, energetic and completely unburdened by the previous movies. The series should have only gotten more and more energized but everything from Bryan Singer’s appointment to the increase in old cast members indicates they’re trying to drown their new franchise in the old stuff that, let’s remember, died off because it stopped being any good. How hard would have been to make a straight sequel to first class?
Spot on Jones. I was going to watch this because I liked First Class but the more I hear about it the less promising it sounds. There is no way that the story can be good with so many characters. They’re just trying to put as many famous actors as possible in one film and hope it sells (by the looks of it they’ll spend 100mil just on the cast).
I have no idea how they’re going to make the chronology of this work and be consistent with the previous movies, to say nothing of the comic books. X-Men is a mess as a movie “series”.
‘First Class’ wasn’t successful enough, critically or financially, for FOX to continue directly down that path. It was the lowest grossing X-Men film yet, and with Singer agreeing to be back at the helm, the studio clearly sees value in returning to some of the franchise’s most successful incarnations…
People know a good thing when they see it. Singer is what they need to rejuvenate the franchise and make it golden again.
