Robert Zemeckis To Receive Director Of The Year Award At Palm Springs Fest

Palm Springs, CA (November 28, 2012) – The 24th annual Palm Springs International Film Festival (PSIFF) will present Academy Award® winning director Robert Zemeckis with the Director of the Year Award for Flight. Presented by Cartier, the Awards Gala will be held Saturday, January 5, at the Palm Springs Convention Center. Hosted by Mary Hart, the Awards Gala will also present awards to previously announced honorees Helen Hunt and Naomi Watts. The Festival runs January 3-14.

  1. congrats to Mr. Zemeckis. He did a great job on the movie “Flight”. It is a shame that there are so many fantastic flicks this year because “Flight” would have trounced the Oscar competition in many recent, lackluster years. This year, however, the competition is tight. Still, Zemeckis (along with Denzel and a standout script by Gatins) knocked “Flight” out of the park. I doff my hat to their success.

  2. It’s too bad flight was an overwrought, telegraphed and cheesy movie where after the first 20 minutes there’s nothing good about it really. Why not give director of the year to someone who actually made a good movie?
