CBS Corp veteran Scott Koondel will be tasked with maximizing revenue from the licensing and distribution of content from all of the company’s business units including CBS Studios, CBS Television Network, CBS News, Showtime, CBS Films and CBS Interactive. He also will seek out opportunities to optimize the value of programming assets associated with CBS’ interest in The CW and the CBS library. Koondel will report to CBS Corp EVP and CFO Joseph Ianniello.
“Scott’s efforts over the past several years have opened a variety of new markets and have had a major positive financial impact for CBS,” Ianniello said. “He is a truly unique executive, with his finger on the pulse of this emerging growth area for our company. We look forward to his continued success as we drive the value of our content across the ever-expanding platforms that provide such a clear opportunity for us.”
Koondel most recently was distribution president for CBS Television Distribution, where he oversaw CBS programming in the off-network programming marketplace. He also spearheaded the company’s entry into the emerging digital distribution space and helped broker deals for CBS’ library programming on Netflix and Amazon, among others. He will remain involved in domestic cable and digital programming sales under the newly formed CBS Global Distribution Group.
