Mister Smith Entertainment reports that Imagine, starring Al Pacino, Jeremy Renner and Julianne Moore has been sold to distributors in several territories. Those include eOne for the UK and Benelux; Roadshow Films for Australia and New Zealand; United King for Israel; Nordisk for Scandinavia; Imagem Films for Latin America; Jaguar in the Middle East; and Mediapro for Eastern Europe. The movie directed and written by Dan Fogelman has Pacino playing an aging rocker whose life is changed when he discovers and reads for the first time an old letter from John Lennon. The film is independently financed by Inimitable Pictures’ Nimitt Mankad and Shivani Rawat via a film fund backed by Manoj Bhargava. David Garrett is overseeing for Mister Smith.
Santa Monica-based Myriad Pictures is distributing the Olivia Wilde-Jason Sudeikis relationship comedy Relanxious internationally and selling the Allegiance Theater film at AFM. Brie Larson and Fred Armisen are also attached to star in the film written and to be directed by Christopher Storer (Sin Bin). Allegiance Theater’s Daniel Dubiecki and Myriad’s Kirk D’Amico are producing. Allegiance Theater also has the upcoming Jodie Foster directed drama Money Monster with IM Global financing and the Kristen Bell comedy Dance Of The Mirlitons.
XYZ Films and Celluloid Nightmares have sold the giant-killer-wasps film Stung to Entertainment One for multiple territories including the United Kingdom, Canada, South Africa and Scandinavia. The film, written by Adam Aresty and to be directed by Benni Diez, is produced by XYZ (The Raid: Redemption) and The Rat Pack (The Wave, The Night Comes Before Us). Casting is underway with shooting in Europe expected to begin in the spring. Sales agent Celluloid Nightmares is a partnership of XYZ and Paris-based Celluloid Dreams. XYZ also just finished shooting Frankenstein’s Army in Prague.
Momentum Pictures picked up UK rights to Corin Hardy’s The Good People, Altitude Film Sales announced at AFM. It’s about a geneticist who moves his family to a millhouse in the Irish countryside where they are attacked by strange creatures. The Good People is co-written by Hardy with Olga Barreneche. It’s produced by Joe Neurauter and Felipe Marino of Occupant Entertainment who previously produced The Wackness and All the Boys Love Mandy Lane. ICM Partners and Occupant Entertainment are handling US sales.
