BBC America announced this morning at TCA that it’s co-producing BBC One’s The Musketeers, a new 10-part drama series of hours that’s inspired by the classic novel from Alexandre Dumas and written by Adrian Hodges (My Week with Marilyn) and set to premiere in 2014. The Musketeers embraces a contemporary take on the famed story and characters created by Dumas, telling the story of a band of brothers — highly trained soldiers who are assigned to protect the King and country. The series shares Dumas’ original 17th century setting and will feature a fresh story each week. BBC America GM Perry Simon said, “The series bristles with vivid escapism and heroic action adventure…It is the perfect series for our Dramaville slot, which has established itself as a showcase for outstanding and award-winning British drama.”
