BEVERLY HILLS, CA (JULY 18, 2012)- Endemol USA, a global leader in television and digital entertainment, today announced that John P. Roberts has joined the company as SVP, Digital Media and Commercial Affairs, effective immediately. In this newly created position, Roberts is responsible for developing new commercial and digital business opportunities in North America for Endemol USA, and its subsidiaryproduction companies, Authentic Entertainment, Endemol Studios, 51 Minds, Original Media and True Entertainment. His team will oversee all original digital productions, interactive television,social games and mobile apps, as well as other commercial opportunities in North America, including live events, licensing, merchandising and the like. Roberts will report to David Goldberg, Chairman and CEO, Endemol North America, and will be based in Beverly Hills, CA.
Hiring Roberts signals Endemol USA’s commitment to further developing its commercial businesses and to continue the growth of its digital business, which includes the development and production of original digital content, such as its XARM Extreme Arm Wrestling mobile game and series for Machinima, based on the new sport from Art Davie, the creator of the UFC; season two of James Hyde Steals the Show, in partnership with Toyota; and O Story Story, a new line of educational mobile/ tablet apps in partnership with Parenting magazine, that reinforce preschool level reading skills. The commercial and digital division will continue to develop digital content for its proven brands, including social and mobile games for Deal or No Deal, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Million Dollar Money Drop, Wipeout and 1vs100. They will also develop digital content under third-party partnerships, such as introducingKobe Bryant into the social gaming landscape, which signals the studio’s first third-party partnership in the digital space.

Prior to joining Endemol USA, Roberts served as Senior Vice President of Digital Content and Cross-Platform Entertainment at The Hub, a multi-platform joint venture between Discovery Communications and Hasbro. In that role, he was in charge of the development and execution of the network’s overall digital strategy, online content and other digital and social mediaplatform strategies.
Robert’s extensive media industry knowledge stems from his work with numerous companies including Lucasfilm LTD, the Game Show Network (GSN), Vulcan Programming, Universal Studios and News Corp, where he established Fox’s first ever internet presence encompassing Fox Entertainment, Fox Sports and Fox Kids Network. He is a four-time Emmy Award® nominee in interactive television and a recipient of the ITV Leadership Award from ITVT.
