Joss Whedon’s online Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog starring Neil Patrick Harris, Nathan Fillion and Felicia Day will make its television debut on the CW on Tuesday, October 9, at 9 PM. It will follow the second original episode of Hart Of Dixie‘s second season, warming up the Tuesday 9 PM slot for new medical drama Emily Owens, MD, which will debut a week later.
Additionally, the CW, which presents today at the TCA summer press tour, announced that it will broadcast the final three episodes of its new music competition series The Next live on September 27 and October 2 at 9 PM and a two-hour finale on October 4 that will all allow viewers to vote online and through social media. This marks a very rare live episodic production for the CW, a staple for the other broadcast networks who all have reality series that air live. The Next travels to cities across the country searching for undiscovered artists on the verge of stardom. The finalists from the local cities will then converge on Los Angeles to compete for the grand prize, an Atlantic Records recording contract, over the final live episodes. Gloria Estefan, John Rich, Nelly, and Joe Jonas star.
Created and directed in 2008 by Joss Whedon, Dr. Horrible stars Harris as Billy, A.K.A. Dr. Horrible, a budding supervillain whose plans for world domination continually go awry as he is working up the guts to speak to his laundromat crush Penny (Day). The only thing standing in Billy’s way is his superhero arch nemesis, Captain Hammer (Fillion).
