WME is expanding its UK literary division with the hires of Simon Trewin and Elizabeth Sheinkman. Trewin has been named partner and head of the UK lit department, and Sheinkman will help to drive the London operation. The pair join Cathryn Summerhayes, who has been at the agency’s London office since 2006. Trewin’s client roster has included Andrew Miller (Ingenious Pain), Danny Wallace (Yes Man), John Boyne (The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas), Boy George (Straight) and former British Poet Laureate Andrew Motion (Silver). He was a director at United Agents and an agent at Peters, Fraser and Dunlop. Sheinkman set up the UK offices of the Elaine Markson Agency in 2004 and later joined Curtis Brown as a senior agent and director. She’s repped Steve Toltz (A Fraction Of The Whole), Marcel Theroux (Far North), Melanie Gideon (Wife 22), Tim Butcher (Blood River) and Rupert Isaacson (The Horse Boy) among others.
