Earlier this year, Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp. established an internal Management and Standards Committee with a remit to “take responsibility for all matters in relation to phone hacking at the News Of The World, payments to the police and all other related issues at News International.” Today, it’s implemented a change in reporting structure under Gerson Zweifach, senior EVP and group general counsel. The shift also frees up News Corp. exec Joel Klein who previously oversaw the committee as he turns focus back to his regular company duties.

NEW YORK, NY – June 18, 2012 — The News Corporation Board of Directors approved a change in the reporting structure of the Management and Standards Committee (MSC), which calls for the MSC to now report directly to Gerson Zweifach, News Corporation’s Senior Executive Vice President and Group General Counsel, who has served as a member of the MSC since February.

This shift will enable the Company to consolidate its efforts with respect to ongoing UK and related investigations within its legal group, which Mr. Zweifach has led since joining News Corporation in February. The change also enables Joel Klein, who previously oversaw the MSC, to transition back to a full-time role as Executive Vice President and CEO of News Corporation’s Education division.

In his MSC role, Mr. Zweifach will report to News Corporation’s independent directors through Viet Dinh, an independent director and Chairman of News Corporation’s Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee.
