LOS ANGELES, CA – May 2, 2012 – FilmEngine Entertainment announced today that Navid McIlhargey has joined as the company’s President, reporting to FilmEngine’s CEO and founder Anthony Rhulen. McIlhargey, who most recently served as Senior Vice President at New Regency, will focus on and oversee all aspects of creative development and production for the company. In addition to the hiring of McIlhargey, FilmEngine also announced that it has closed a new, seven-figure film development fund with Italia Film International to option and develop material. FilmEngine seeks larger scale, commercial projects with franchise potential across a variety of genres and currently has 10 films and 15 television projects in development.
The LA-based company has also secured a substantial equity investment to pursue its growth initiatives and finance production.
In making the announcement, Rhulen commented, “Navid is well-respected, hard-working and extremely passionate about the business of making movies. He has incredibly deep relationships with filmmakers and executives at the highest level throughout the industry.”
McIlhargey added, “After New Regency, I was excited to have a chance to help grow a business. With Anthony, we have the ability to finance development and production, which opens up an unlimited number of opportunities.”
During his tenure at New Regency, McIlhargey was in charge of production and development of THE DARKEST HOUR starring Emile Hirsch, GRAY MAN which will star Brad Pitt, and GUNSLINGER to be directed by James Mangold. He joined Silver Pictures in 2004, where he was an Executive Producer on ECHELON CONSPIRACY and ROCKNROLLA. Prior to that, McIlhargey was an executive at Revolution Studios and began his career at UTA.
