EXCLUSIVE: Rapper-actor T.I. has landed a season-long guest arc on the upcoming second season of the Starz drama series Boss, which begins production in Monday in Chicago. The Lionsgate TV-produced series stars recent Golden Globe winner Kelsey Grammer as ruthless Chicago mayor Tom Kane. T.I. will play Trey, a former gangbanger with designs on a career in Chicago’s City Hall who represents a symbiosis between politics and crime in Chicago. He is the conduit between a local Alderman and the only group powerful enough to function as a grassroots organization in the projects — gangs. T.I., repped by Category 5, was last seen on the big screen co-starring in Sony’s Takers, and on the small screen on his VH1 docu series Family Hustle.

Is cable TV where all the talentless rappers go to die?
See Hell On Wheels.
Actually, TI does have talent. You should know if you came out of that rock you live in once in a while. Oh, and so does Common.
TI played himself in ATL, he played (a 70’s version) of himself in American Gangster and he is there because he has a brand and a following in his reality show. Common is good in films like Street Kings Smoking Aces because he has little dialogue and he’s playing hard character that lends to his voice. He is also eye candy for the ladies (all races dig them some Common) but as seen in JUST WRIGHT he needs more experience before he gets a lead role again.
Is he going to be able to believably play a guy that grew up in Chicago with his heavy Georgia accent? Not that it even matters on a show that less than a million people will watch.
Great news. Loved him in Takers. Smokin hottie with a cool acting edge.
T.I. is a really good actor and this is a great move for Starz, as well as a strong move for his career.
This is great. I heard the show was solid before, and I’m definitely going to watch it now. Loved TI in Takers and ATL.
Didn’t he also play Predator, Toxie And bride of Chuckie — what chops!
I loved T.I. is talented! He and his family could have their on sitcom. I am going to miss family hustle on Monday night.
