‘Killer Joe’ Gets NC-17; Planning To Appeal Rating
LOS ANGELES — The Classification and Rating Appeals Board today upheld the NC-17 rating given to the movie Killer Joe. The Classification and Rating Administration (CARA) had assigned the movie the NC-17 rating for “graphic aberrant content involving violence and sexuality, and a scene of brutality.” In the appeal brought by LD Entertainment, the Appeals Board heard statements on behalf of Killer Joe from David Dinerstein, President of LD Entertainment, and Tracy Letts, Pulitzer Prizewinner, Playwright and Screenwriter. The Classification and Rating Administration was represented by Chairman Joan Graves.

Unsure why they keep appealing this. It’s an NC-17 movie. If the board goes against it, I guess the board members have been paid off… This is a hard NC-17…
What do you mean “keep appealing”, stealth? They’ve appealed it once. They got the initial rating on March 1st, and today they appealed. That’s how the system works.
Excellent! The MPAA is one of the biggest jokes in America. I for one will be happy to see Friedken just release the movie he wants to make. The MPAA thinks they know how to make movies better and they’re really just a bunch of useless soccer moms and dads…and apparently sometimes priests as guest reviewers…why do we still use these idiots??
