A rare Tuesday edition on American Idol (5.0/13 in adults 18-49, 15.8 million viewers) pushed some of the competition down to season/series lows. But the reality series didn’t get a bump from launching its first live show of the season, down a tenth from last Wednesday’s episode. (Idol will likely close the gap in the finals). Vs. the comparable 90-minute Tuesday edition last year, last-night’s two-hour show was down 34% in the demo. Idol was was topped by CBS’ NCIS (3.4/9, 18 million) in total viewers for the first time ever. Fox still won the night in total viewers and adults 18-49.

NCIS was down 6% from last week in 18-49 to a season low, but its spinoff, NCIS: LA (3.1/8, 15.7 million) was up 15%. The seesaw night for CBS continued with Unforgettable (1.9/5, 9.9 million) slipping 5% from last week to a series low. Going head-to-head against Idol, NBC’s The Biggest Loser (2.0/5) was down 13% from last week to a season low. At 10 PM, the season finale of Parenthood (1.9/5) was up 12% from last week to tie Unforgettable for the No. 1 18-49 spot in the hour and post its highest demo rating since November. ABC’s freshman Last Man Standing (2.1/6) was down 5% to a series low. Cougar Town (1.5/4) and The River (1.5/4) were both down 12% to series lows. At 10 PM, Body Of Proof (1.3/4) was down 13%. The CW’s Ringer (0.4/1) was down a tenth to tie its series low.
