Adam Sandler Sets Razzie Noms Record

Here is The Razzies press release. For the first time in Razzie history, all five nominated Worst Pictures are also vying for Worst Director, Worst Screenplay and Worst Screen Ensemble:

With three critically-panned movies released by his Happy Madison Productions, Adam Sandler totally dominates the list of contenders for The 32nd Annual RAZZIE Awards. Sandler has more than doubled Eddie Murphy’s old record for the most nominations accrued by an individual in a single year. As an actor, writer and/or producer on JACK & JILL, BUCKY LARSON and JUST GO WITH IT, the former SNL star has amassed a whopping 11 RAZZIE nods, dis-honoring last year’s Worst Achievements in Film.

Leading the pack for Worst Picture is Sandler’s cross-dressing comedy JACK & JILL, which received 12 nods in all (becoming only the 4th film in the Tacky Trophy’s history ever to get more dings than the awards have categories). Besides having the inside track to “win” the top award, JILL is also contending for Sandler as Worst Actor (as male twin Jack) Katie Holmes as Worst Supporting Actress (playing Jack’s wife) and former Oscar regular Al Pacino, nabbing his third RAZZIE nod for playing “himself” as being madly in love with Sandler’s female twin. Sandler is also nominated for Worst Actress for playing the role of Jill and, should he “win,” and choose to follow in the footsteps of previous “winners” Halle Berry (CATWOMAN) and Sandra Bullock (ALL ABOUT STEVE) Sandler could potentially become the first “winner” who literally has the balls to accept a Worst Actress RAZZIE.

Also selected as Worst Picture nominees for 2011 are: BUCKY LARSON: BORN TO BE A STAR (in which a Midwestern dolt comes to Hollywood to pursue a career in porno films); NEW YEAR’S EVE (which wastes some than 20 major stars on a “plot” almost as sophisticated as an episode of THE LOVE BOAT); TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON (an even louder, even longer 3-D follow up to Michael Bay’s 2009 Worst Picture “winner” TRANSFORMERS 2); and the 4th installment in the TWILIGHT series, BREAKING WIND, PART I (in which Sparkly Vampire Edward finally marries – and impregnates – Whiny Goth Girl Bella).

For the first time in RAZZIE history, all five nominated Worst Pictures are also vying for Worst Director, Worst Screenplay and Worst Screen Ensemble. Other well-known potential RAZZIE recipients include: Former Oscar winners Nicolas Cage and Nicole Kidman, British comedian Russell Brand (a Worst Actor choice for the massively disappointing remake of ARTHUR) and The Victoria’s Secret Underwear Model who replaced Megan Fox as the girlfriend of Shia Le Beouf in TRANNIES #3. “Winners” will be announced, appropriately, on Sunday, April 1 – April Fools’ Day. 1. And Adam Sandler is laughing all the way to the bank. Who cares what critics think, he is one of the funniest people on the planet.

  2. One of these days I’m going to watch Jack and Jill and Bucky Larson and see what all the fuss is about. I mean surely neither of these could be worse than War Horse, could they?

  3. Adam Sandler really is one of the bigger sell outs in Hollywood so this is completely deserved. He takes half-baked, dumb ideas then hires his slacker friends to develop, then hires his actor friends as supporting cast and then everyone just goofs off and cashes checks. Meanwhile, the rest of America has to work for a living.

  4. Apparently these people didn’t see Mars Needs Moms, Atlas Shrugged, The Human Centipede II or Hoodwinked Too: Hood Vs. Evil if they think those are truly the worst movies of the year.

  5. To “RJ”…Unfortunately, mr. Sandler won’t be going to the bank that often if he continues making bad movies like these….ever hear of Jim Carey, …point is,being as talented as he is and as good a businessman…I bet underneath all the humor, is a man who better rethink his business model and get rid of that woman, Heather Parry, who seems to call the shots. My only meeting with her resulted in rudness and arrogance. Doesn’t result in much creativity.

  6. Don’t blame Tom Brady for “Bucky Larson” fiasco. My husband can’t f—ing direct the film and act in the film at the same time!

  7. Your Highness got away WAY too easily from Razzie nods. Rarely do I feel ill after watching fifteen minutes of a movie.

  8. Let’s see..After production cost, “.Just go with it” netted 134mil, “Jack and Jill” netted 63 mil, and “Bucky Larson” lost 7.5 mil. No disrespect… but if netting $189,500,000.00 is a bad year; give me that all the time. As far as Mr. Sandler not “going to bank if he continues making bad movies..” Men lie, women lie, numbers dont… Happy Madison has made 22 films since 1999; 2 of them have lost money. HM has grossed over a billion. Do you really think he needs to change his model??? HM doesnt make movies for stuffy people with no sense of humor. Since when does making people laugh a bad thing?
