Chris Coelen’s Kinetic Content is teaming with Karen Grau’s Calamari Productions for a first-look, co-production arrangement whereby the two production entities will collaborate on several projects, and the first will be “Parole,” a high profile non-fiction series which will allow unprecedented access into the juvenile parole process and its impact on young people, their families and society.
Calamari’s unprecedented foray into the U.S. juvenile justice system is unique because these venues – by law – are closed to the media and public. The company’s credits include creating and Executive Producing “MTV Juvies” and MSNBC’s “Young Kids, Hard Time.” Specializing in child welfareand juvenile justice programming., Calamari has the unique distinction of being the only television production company in the United Stateswith state Supreme Courtaccess in numerous states to film inside America’s child welfare and juvenile courts, juvenile detention centers, and juvenile prisons. Calamari’s access has resulted in numerous documentary filmsand television series which have won some of journalism’s highest honors, including the prestigious National Edward R. Murrow Award, Emmy Awards, a National Headliner Award, a two-time winner of the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism, and more than 16 national awards for efforts on behalf of children.
