Mary Tyler Moore To Receive SAG Life Achievement Award From Dick Van Dyke

It’ll happen during the Screen Actors Guild Awards telecast on January 29. Mary Tyler Moore and Dick Van Dyke became TV icons on The Dick Van Dyke Show. Moore went on to form her own production company MTM with Grant Tinker and headined The Mary Tyler Moore Show, which spawned several character spinoffs including Lou Grant. Other MTM shows included The Bob Newhart Show, WKRP in Cincinnati, Hill Street Blues, The White Shadow and St. Elsewhere. Nominations for SAG Awards will be announced tomorrow at 9 AM on TNT.

  1. Mary, has always been one of my favorites on TV. As “Laura Petrie”, she started the fad for women to wear pants at home on TV. Also, on her own sitcom…she started (in a sense) how a single woman could have a carrer, on her own, without a man’s assttance. We all know that there was some chemestry between her and Lou Grant. :-) And she had her own network, which allowed several spin-offs. What made me think of her, and will always will is her MTM network..along with her Kitten’s “Meow!:
